Ingredients:
1/2 cup toor dal
1 small sized onion chopped
1 medium sized tomato
1 green chilli slit
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tblsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp minced ginger
12/ tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
A pinch of hing(asafoedita)
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 tblsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup finely chopped Cilantro(green corriander) for garnish

Preparation: Toor dal
In a pressure cooker or steamer, cook dal with all the above 9 ingredients (till garlic powder) for about 20-25 minutes.
For tadka(tampering):
In a kadai(saute pan) add vegetable.
When the oil starts simmering, add cumin seeds.
When the cumin seeds starts spluttering, add garlic cloves thinly cut. let them sautee till they are light brown, then add hing.
Add the dal with other mixture into the pan(kadhai).
Add salt to taste.
Garnish dal with cilantro and serve hot with white rice or can eat with chappatis or rotis.
